Interesting baby shower games
Okay, so when they started this baby shower tradition over 100 years ago, did they insist on torturing the guests with the corniest games ever invented? Or did they have really interesting games?
Maybe they played ‘turn the crankshaft on the Model T’, or milk a gallon from Bessie the cow, something somewhat realistic. But I dare say they didn’t have to carve a potato in the likeness of the coming baby, or to keep from crossing their legs while at an ever-so-boring party.
If you ever find yourself in the precarious of position of hosting a baby shower, or at least, providing the games for one, take heart. Some had seen the plight of poor souls, such as you, and have come to the rescue. Yes, Virginia, there are interesting fun baby shower games.
How about, morning routine?
This can come directly from the Mommy-to-be. Find out ahead of time what her morning routine is currently. Then each guest is going to act out that routine, and how it will change when the baby comes.
So they can be putting on make-up with one hand, feeding the baby while talking on a cell phone, changing a diaper while eating a granola bar (yuck!). If you want something that may be simpler to set up, create an obstacle course in the back yard and have guests race against the clock to get to the end. Count off for any bumps, scrapes, or God forbid, spills.
To really create an unusual and touching setting, have the baby shower about 6 weeks after the baby is born and make sure he/she is there with Mommy. This gives everyone a chance to buy a gift to give anything that the new parents may still be needing and it also provides an interesting idea for a shower game. Let’s say baby Lisa is at her shower. Play a baby shower ideas called, “First Impressions”.
Each guest would write from the point of view of Lisa, the answers to such statements as, “When I first saw my Mom, I couldn’t believe ____________,” “I knew he was my Dad, when he ______________”, “When adults bend down to look at me, I want to _______”, etc. The hilarious and potentially sentimental responses are endless.
